Story
In May 2018, , my dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer that had spread to his liver and he was given 3-6 months to live. My family’s world caved in, my dad, my children’s grandpa, the person who had been the rock of our family all my life, was going to die.
He fought a long battle for 11 months before finally passing away on 20th April 2019. During these 11 months he was in and out of hospital and this cruel disease made him suffer terribly. During the last few weeks of his life, when care at home was no longer an option, he was looked after by St David’s Hospice. The amazing staff here made his last few weeks as comfortable and dignified as possible. While giving us all the support we needed. Their care and professionalism was second to none.
For the last 20 years St David’s Hospice has been giving free care to residents of North Wales and this year it will cost more than £6 million pounds to deliver their services. This is funded mainly by charity. So please help me raise a load of money so that they can keep looking after our loved ones.
Initially I signed up for a 9 day trekking adventure to conquer the Great Wall of China in support of St David’s Hospice. However due to Covid this has been cancelled 3 times so now I have changed to a new challenge. I will now be donning my Lycra and cycling from Vietnam to Cambodia.
This 11 day challenge consists of 382km of charity cycling taking us through many traditional Vietnamese and Cambodian villages, following gorgeous streams and rivers, passing paddy fields and adjacent mountains. It’s gonna be very hot and very humid and we will be cycling for roughly 6 hours a day.
Two fascinating countries – one awesome charity challenge. Join us today on this magical cycle for charity and experience South East Asia at its best!
