Story

My lasting memory of Ian will be when he flung me around the dancefloor at an end of conference party in Brighton in 2010...

I knew Ian through working with him on the British Medical Association's Medical Students' Committee. Amongst many things, one of the things he was passionate about was widening participation in medicine. He believed in encouraging more students from backgrounds which aren't traditionally represented in the medical profession, so that it was more reflective of the society it serves.

Ian was killed in a tragic traffic accident on his way home from work in October 2010. The Dr Ian Noble Memorial Fund at the University of Sheffield was set up in order to help his vision live on. It provides financial support to medical students who would otherwise be discouraged from pursuing their studies and, thereby, joining the profession.

To say that Ian was an incredible man would be the biggest of understatements! I'm not sure I could ever attempt to write anything to do him justice. But they say actions speak louder than words and I hope that taking on the challenge of running my first marathon serves to show just how much I thought of him and still do.

Working in Australia was a dream of Ian's and so it's an honour for me to take on the challenge of running around the city I've adopted as my second home.

All support for this would be massively appreciated. Please help Ian's memory live on by sponsoring me to run the Melbourne Marathon, all the way to the MCG!
