Story

Me again.......  my yearly event!!!

For those of you who are not aware - Team Macy was formed in memory of Macy Cruickshanks who was only 6 weeks 1 day old when she died - following major heart surgery.  Macy was the 3rd child of Paul and Helen and was a much loved little sister to Libby and Sam.  Unfortunately after only 2 weeks of being home mum Helen spotted signs that not all was right with Macy. Helen was finally taken seriously and Macy was taken to PICU at the Royal Brompton.  This is where she remained for the rest of her short little life.  Whilst on PICU at the Brompton Macy had open heart surgery and had to be resucitated on more than one occassion - before the life changing decision had to be made to turn her machine off - there is only so much fighting a little princess can do and Macy had put up a bigger fight than anyone of us will hopefully ever have to.   On December 20th - only 6 weeks 1 day after joining the Cruickshank family - little Macy was taken away.  Her body may be gone but her legacy will never be forgotten.  Since losing Macy - Paul and Helen have formed Team Macy - orginally a facebook following which was formed whilst Macy was in hospital to keep friends and family up to date on her condition. Team Macy has supported Helen, Paul Libby and Sam during their tragic loss. Both Helen and Paul have put their heart and soul into raising awareness into heart disease and raising money for the Royal Brompton to thank them for all their efforts, love and kindness they showed in the duration of Macys life there. They want to continue to raise much needed funding for the hospital to try and prevent other families having to live daily with the massive loss they have suffered.

Team Macy is currently working on raising 10K to fund a researcher for 6 months to work souly on Macys condition.  Paul and Helen bravely allowed the hospital to keep Macys heart to allow much needed research into this rare condition and to hopefully prevent another family somewhere in the world from feeling their pain.

Helens has set herself many challenges since losing Macy to keep herself focussed and on track for her goal of raising money.  Her biggest challenge yet is the Paris Marathon - and she has asked me to run with her... gulp!!!!  Who needs friends aye!!!

This is where you guys help me.... by donating anything you can afford to give to help Helen and Paul reach their next fundraising goal.  It will never bring Macy back to them but it shows how her life, no matter how short, is making a massive difference to others.

Thank you xx
