Story
WE ARE DOING 2 EVENTS FOR YOUR DONATIONS: THE PARAS'10 ON MAY 18th AND THE FAN DANCE ON JULY 6th.
The PARAS'10 is a 10 mile endurance race based on The Parachute Regiment's 10 miler from selection at the end of training. During test week, recruits are assessed and scored across 8 separate events. The 10 mile march is the first event and is conducted over undulating terrain with each man carrying a bergen weighing 35lbs plus water and a weapon. The march must be completed in 1 hour 50 minutes and it is this event that forms the basis of the PARAS'10. Women also participate in this event and they need to carry the exact same weight as the men.
PLEASE NOTE: The 1 hour and 50 minute or less time limit is what you would need to complete it in if you wanted to become a member of the very distinguished Parachute regiment. This is quite a challenging task for a civilian and not expected by any of the team.....though we of course will try our very hardest to get as close as possible to that time.

The Fan Dance is an integral part of the British SAS Selection course which was first introduced as an essential test in the decade following the Second World War. It is the world's oldest and most famous Special Forces Selection test and the standard by which all others are set. It is a 24km (15 miles) test march over the the highest mountain....and back in Wales. Men carry 35lbs plus water - 45lbs in total and women carry 25lbs plus water - 35lbs in total.
PLEASE NOTE: The 4 hour or less time limit is what you would need to qualify as the most elite soldier in the world - the SAS. This is a VERY tall order for a civilian and not expected by any of the team.....though we of course will try our very hardest to get as close as possible to that time.
Rachel and Gary completed The Fan Dance in July of 2018 on the hottest day of the year. It was the toughest physical and mental challenge either of us have ever faced. Gary finished in a very impressive 4 hours and 36 minutes, and Rachel in 5 hours and 43 minutes. We are aiming to both beat our times, if possible. Thanks to the donations of family, friends and colleagues, last year we raised £3,175.00 for Cancer Research UK. Now we are focused on helping Alzheimer's Research UK. We would love your support. :0)
