Story
I became a 'treble' Nan last year! One beautiful granddaughter, Ruby and handsome twin boys, Torben and Atticus. As we started 2016 we felt love, hope and happiness in our hearts to have these 3 little lives growing within our family. Unfortunately at 6 weeks old Torben suffered a bleed on the brain and was seriously ill nearly loosing his battle to live. We were all devastated and over the coming months we watched as he grew stronger and battled to stay with us. Ruby and the boys are now over a year old and Torben never stops amazing us as he strives to keep up with his brother and cousin. Torben needs special help, and we came across a wonderful organisation called Portage. They visit every week and teach us how to help Torben, what the best toys and learning aids are and when to stand back and let him do it! Gillian our support has become not only a friend to Torben but a friend to the family. She helps with advice and what to do when we feel we don't know where to turn.
Unfortunately I had a 'failed' attempt in March when the walk was cancelled after 36 miles due to bad weather! so I am at it again - this time its in Wiltshire - the home of Portage, and I am doing the 'race to the Stones'.
Portage won't touch all our lives, but for these special babies and children it is the most amazing help. I hope you find it in your heart to help such an unknown but much needed charity, to raise awareness of the special work they do. I wanted to do something to give back what they have given to my family - thank you Portage Wiltshire.
