Story
Hi, I'm Terry and I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a bit about myself and why I have chosen to take part in the London to Paris cycle ride and why I have chosen Jessie May as my charity. I will be doing this ride with my running and cycling friend Vanessa Hawkins.
As some of you may know, I have had a passion for running for many years, I have taken part in 12 marathons, several ultra marathons, over 50 half marathons and many hundreds of shorter races.
I started running 14 years ago when my wife was diagnosed with Kidney Failure. After many tests I was confirmed as a match to donate my kidney, it was at that point that that my passion for running and getting fit began. I have raised money for kidney research over the years and donated hundreds of pounds to other worthy causes.
At the age of 68 I feel my marathon days are numbered so I have recently started cycling to keep up my fitness. In the last couple of years I have completed several Bristol to London rides.
This London to Paris challenge is over 4 days and will cover over 300 miles, travelling through 6 towns and Cities along the way.
I have chosen to raise money for the Jessie May Charity based in Bristol, because having been blessed with 2 wonderful Sons and 4 gorgeous grandchildren, I realise how lucky I am that they are all healthy and live happy lives. Many families are not so fortunate.
Jessie May Charity is a local charity who work tirelessly to provide nursing care at home for children and young people with life limiting conditions, who are not expected to live past the age of 19. They are almost entirely funded by donations and fund raisers, so I would love to become a part of their work and success.
So please please please if you can, donate to this very worthy cause.
Thank you
Terry
