Morrisons Great North Run · 13 September 2015 ·

Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

Thank you for visiting our JustGiving page.

There have been many great trio’s throughout history; Musketeers, Amigos, bears, witches (!) Charlie’s Angels, Destiny’s Child (yes, they were epic) and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. We have plans this Autumn to run our way into sporting trio history with an epic dash at the Great North Run on 13 September.

We’re doing it in aid of the British Heart Foundation. Their work saves lives and helped save Claire’s mum. We think they are well worth running for, and hope you do too.

 More about us......

We know what you’re thinking; Claudia runs anyway, and Claire’s done a half marathon before, this is no real challenge for them. Mwahha, we have thought of that, here are the stats:

Rachel: she’s never ran a race before, over any distance. Never. She has two young children who she cares for alone for half the year (Jimmy, you do a fabulous job when you’re back but it’s true!) which is hardly conducive to road running (not unless you want the social at the door for failure to care). This run is the challenge of her life.

Claire: so she’s ran a half before, but not the Great North (it is renowned as one of the hardest). We are determined to run this race together, so to prove her worth, Claire is running another half marathon a week after the Great North (York of Vale, who knew that existed) where she is determined to set a personal best and run quicker than two hours. Let’s let that sink in. Two half- marathons within 7 days. Eeeeesh.

Claudia: so she’s ran the Great North a couple of times before and honestly, loved it. It’s the best race in the world, right? What she has never done is a marathon. This is purposeful. Marathons are hellish and unnatural. You train for forever and apparently they actually take years off your life (Ranulph Fiennes would argue otherwise). So she’s going back on her word, and running a marathon. The Yorkshire Marathon to be exact, three weeks after she runs the York of Vale with Chappo. She is running the marathon for Yorkshire Cancer Research so if you would like to (also) donate to the amazing work they do please click here  https://www.justgiving.com/Claudia-Gilham-Yorkshire-Marathon

Thank you for reading. If you did, thank you for donating.

Finally, long distance running is made so much easier by the few good men (and women) who come to cheer you along and scream your name. If any of you lovely people are able to cheer us on at Newcastle (13th September) or York (11th October) we would be very pleased to see your smiling faces.

Lots of Love

Rachel, Claire and Claudia  (The Three ???? – answers in your donation replies please)
