Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!
My name is Cadet Flight Sergeant Thomas Cross, I am 17 and a Junior Leaders Student from 2078 (Boscobel) Sqn ATC and the Adams' Grammar CCF(RAF). As part of the Junior Leaders Course I will be organising and carrying out a 53 mile, 2 day hike across South Staffordshire (from Codsall to the Wrekin and back) in an effort to raise money for the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation, an amazing charity we support.
John Thornton was a Royal Marine who was tragically killed in 2008 during a tour of Iraq. In his life, Lt Thornton achieved many things including climbing Kilimanjaro, flying with the Red Arrows and being awarded Top Student on the Air Cadet Junior Leaders Course. The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation has been set up by his parents in his honour to help support young people from a wide range of youth organisations providing them with scholarships and bursaries to support their personal development and the pursuit of their ambitions.
I am fundraising as part of the Air Cadet Junior Leaders Course XVIII. I will be aiming to partner with local businesses to match whatever is raised! I am hoping to raise at least £500, so please get involved as every penny raised will help make a change, even the smallest donations count!
I organised this event in particular because before I joined the cadets I was not the most physically adept person and wouldn't dream of voluntarily doing anything like this. I've seen the brilliant opportunities organisations like the ATC and CCF can provide for young people and how it can change them. The JTYAF is a charity which sees this and does all they can to support young men and women.
"The JTYAF supports young people from a wide range of youth organisations providing them with scholarships and bursaries to support their personal development and the pursuit of their ambitions. Recipients of the Charity’s Young Achievers Awards are selected for their demonstration of the Foundation’s key values: courage, determination, unselfishness and cheerfulness in adversity. John accomplished his dream and died doing a job he loved. Therefore, the aim of the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation is to encourage and assist young people to ‘climb as high as they can dream."

On behalf of myself and JTYAF thank you so much,
