February 1st 2021 marks the retirement of my truly wonderful guide dog Unity. She is 10 years old and we have been a working partnership since 2012. We have worked together for over 8 years and now sadly it is time for her to hang up her harness and retire. Now she will resume her role in our house as a beloved pet dog. 

But I wanted to mark the occasion by starting an online fundraiser in honour of her retirement.

 Unity is my world and I have been truly blessed to work with her. She gave me my freedom and my independence. With her I have been able to do so many things like go to University, get a job, travel, have a social life and take on so many opportunities. 

Having a guide dog has honestly been one of the most incredible, life-changing experiences of my life. It was the best decision I ever made. But now I am on the list and waiting for my second life changing companion to enter my life.

Which is why I need your support.

Covid-19 had had a huge impact on the Guide Dogs charity. The pandemic has put a huge strain on their resources and staff. Fundraising events and opportunities have not been able to go ahead and so I wanted to do something to help.
