Dear all,
On 5 May 2014 the beautiful, brave Stephanie Louise passed away.
Steph was diagnosed with melanoma in the summer of 2011 and spent nearly four years battling this hideous disease.
She never once complained or asked 'why me?' She held her head up high and fought on with strength and dignity until the end. We
are so, so proud of her and grateful for the extra time she gave us by
refusing to give up.
Steph was all about the fundraising. Even though she was in pain we couldn't begin to understand she took it upon herself to walk the Race for Life last summer and raise £1,355 for Cancer
Research. Not satisfied with that challenge alone she thought she’d also
star in a couple of newspapers in a bid to raise awareness of the
amazing support centre, Maggie’s. It is this charity we ask you to help in memory of Steph.
Steph loved Maggie's. Their centres offer
support to anyone affected by cancer – be it patients or their family
and friends. The staff can help with everything from counselling and
finances to wigs and make-up. And there are classes in everything from
therapeutic art to yoga. But most importantly it was a relaxing
place Steph could go instead of having to spend hours in depressing waiting
rooms. There was always someone there ready to welcome her with a cup of
tea, some homemade cake and a shoulder to cry on. Cancer is a terrifying
disease and I truly don’t know where we would be without the love and
kindness the Maggie’s staff have shown us all.
So, rather than sending flowers to show your support we ask you to consider donating the money you would have spent to this incredible charity.
It's clear from the wonderful messages of love and support we have received how much Steph meant to us all and how many lives she touched. Thank you on behalf of the family - we'll miss her everyday. x
