Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!
I am taking part in this years Silver Star walk in memory of our dear friend, Gary Nelson. two years have passed since Gary lost his fight with brain cancer, and we still think of him every day.
Gary was an extraordinary man who lived life to the full, everyday there was a laugh with Gaz and he was the most charming man you could ever meet. A heart of gold!
I remember how very reluctant Gary was to go into the hospice, he was scared. When the time came for him to go there everything changed. He was so well looked after, he loved the place, he loved the nurses, he made new friends. He said it was like the best hotel he had stayed in, with the best food :-) Only a week before Gary passed away we celebrated his birthday with a beautiful buffet and bottles of champagne, arranged by Gary's wife, Christina. The sun shone all day, all staff were so accommodating. Such a special day, such an amazing place!
I will never forget the kindness and devotion the nurses and staff showed Gary. How the place was so welcoming to everyone who entered. Ayrshire Hospice brings hope and comfort to patients and their loved ones, experiencing some of the most difficult times of their lives.
I will walk these miles in Gary's memory, and I will say a prayer for everyone who has ever, or will ever be touched by the great work of The Ayrshire Hospice!
Many thanks, Karen xxx
