World's Big Sleep Out Chicago 2019 · 7 December 2019 ·

Campaign by UNICEF USA (RCN 131760110)
The World's Big Sleep Out is a one-off charity campaign with the aim to help 1 million people experiencing homelessness around the world through a global program of Sleep Out events in December 2019.

Story

On December 7,  I plan to sleep out on DePaul University's quad to support the Institute of Global Homelessness and other local and global groups working to help people experiencing homelessness.

I've been working with IGH for much of my time at DePaul and I'm so impressed with how they empower and bring together the people who are doing the work at the grassroots level. They are also elevating the issue in places where it needs to be heard--from the United Nations to the Vatican.

For one night, in backyards and iconic locations across the globe, we are joining an expected 50,000 people to sleep out in unison to create the world's largest display of solidarity and support of those experiencing homelessness and displacement.

This event is a starting point for even more exciting work for IGH--which will work with Sleep Out partners around the world to keep momentum going after this event. We know sleeping out for one night won't end homelessness, but it can bring visibility and be a great chance to raise funds for organizations doing the work.

Please make a donation (any amount helps, $10, $25) to help me reach my sleep out goal.

This fundraising page is connected to UNICEF USA. UNICEF USA is The Worlds Big Sleep Outs partner and all funds raised in the United States will be donated to UNICEF USA who will support us in distributing 50% of the funds raised to local charities helping people affected by homelessness in your town or city and distributing the other 50% to support children and families who are displaced internationally.
