Ukraine Crisis Appeal
Campaign by The British Red Cross Society (RCN Eng/Wales 220949,Scot SC037738, IOM 0752, Jers 430)
Ukraine has faced almost eight years of conflict. With recent events, we want to be there for everyone who needs us

Story

As you know, the humanitarian situation is increasingly dire and desperate. Millions of people have no safe place to call home. More than 2.5 million have already left Ukraine, while countless more are still trapped underground, taking cover from the shelling, and desperate for a safe escape.Red Cross teams have been working around the clock to get critical care to those who need it most, both in Ukraine and its bordering countries. But with recent freezing temperatures, and ongoing violence, an enormous number of people urgently need help right now.

Why is Worleston Music School putting on a 6 hour concert?

Worleston Music School’s wonderful and dedicated students, are volunteering their time, energy and skills, by putting on a marathon outdoor concert for the whole community to help raise funds for the victims of this terrible war in Ukraine. Supporting refugees on the border with basic and much needed humanitarian supplies and our chosen Charity is the British Red Cross.

Why has Worleston Music School Chosen the Red Cross?

All wars are terrible but our hearts particularly go out to the people of Ukraine at this time. Who can fail to be touched by this horrible crisis! Everyday lives totally turned upside down. Families, are being blasted out of their homes, schools, hospitals, and shopping centres, and they desperately need our help at the border, now. I believe we should do unto others as we would have them do to us….

What has been the local reaction to the event?

We have had a lot of positive reaction in the local community. We pulled together in a very short time, a collaboration with the village pub and the owner of the field behind. We have at least 15 raffle Prizes generously donated by local business, including a microlight experience. There will be activities for small children and I would like to see classic cars on the field to add to the interest. I am hoping to turn this into an annual charity fundraising event.
