Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I have been doing a lot of indoor cycling at The Village Gym in Basingstoke recently and thought I would take the opportunity to raise some money. The charity I have chosen is Ambitious about Autism, they provide support to children and young people with autism through education, employment, policy, research and training for parents, professionals and organisations.

The reason I have been inspired by this charity is because my mum was recently diagnosed with autism at aged 60 and I would like to raise awareness. The article below published by the Yorkshire Evening Post highlights some of the challenges she faced but also something I truly believe, that you can do anything you put your mind to. I am very proud of her -

Diagnosis typically occurs later for females (Begeer et al., 2013). Females are likely to develop coping strategies, camouflage and internalise problems, they may present as having eating difficulties, anxiety or depression (Bargiela et al., 2016).

I will commence the 1407km (874 mile) cycle on 27th December and make good use of the festive food for fuel, completing it within 7 days and starting 2022 as I mean to go on.
