Story
This year Bryanston's Heads of School, Lotte and Harry, have chosen to support Children on the Edge for the annual A2 Charity Weekend.
Ongoing conflict across Myanmar means over 120,000 internally displaced Kachin people are living unstable lives in around 170 high-altitude camps close to the China border. Their government continues to deny access for humanitarian workers, meaning that displaced families with young children are living in overcrowded, high altitude camps. Villages are heavily shelled, women report systematic rape and government soldiers have fired on innocent civilians. Thousands of children are traumatised. Many have been separated from their parents and nearly all have no access to food, healthcare or schooling.
As the only international NGO working in the camps, Children on the Edge are providing training and support programmes for parents, children and volunteer teachers, helping to ensure long-term sustainability with fragile communities.
Lotte and Harry, together with their team of prefects and the A2 (year 13) year group are organising a day of fabulous fundraising activities and warmly invite all friends and family of Bryanston School to get involved. Full information will be emailed to parents.
