Story
As a group of friends from Aberdeen Uni (mostly) we thought it would be fun to run the Edinburgh marathon relay as a way to keep fit. reconnect and raise money for an important charity.
Katie's dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's 5 years ago; although initially hard to come to terms with he has chosen to respond positively by raising money for charities that are seeking to delay the effects, prevent others developing the condition and ultimately find a cure. Through events like walking the Southern Upland Way he has raised a lot of money himself we are keen to get involved ourselves and do something to help.
Speaking to Norman he says "It is scary as there is no cure at the moment and every day movements and speech is a bit harder than the day before. Everything takes longer from dressing to getting cash out of your wallet to pay at a supermarket. Walking is awkward and clumsy. Medication does help but as time moves forward it becomes less and less effective hence the urgency to find new treatments to help millions of people around the world with Parkinson's Disease."
Any contribution is welcome and we look forward to seeing some of you as supporters on the way on 27th May..!
