We stand for everyone affected by dementia to find a cure

Story

Riding the North Coast 500 in aid of Alzheimer's Research UK.

To increase awareness and help to aid research

My grandmother sadly suffered from Dementia in her later life. She was an incredible woman and lived a very energetic life right up until her dementia progressed to the point where she no longer knew the people around her.

Dementia is a form of Alzheimer's and is predicted to be the 21st century's biggest killer. Dementia will affect us all. But we can beat it. Together. Every action will bring us closer to a cure and giving everyone the support they need.

  • Over 850,000 people live with Dementia in the UK and that number is rapidly rising.
  • At £24 billion each year, dementia costs the UK economy more than cancer and heart disease combined but over two thirds of the care for Dementia patients is paid for by themselves or their family.
  • £20 could fund one hour of vital research
  • £50 could provide access to specialist equipment for studying cells
  • £120 could support complex protein analysis
  • £300 could pay for a genetic test to help identify risk genes
