Story

I did it!

Sunday 22nd April Flora London Marathon was so much fun, I really enjoyed it. I ran it all, every single step and finished in 5 hours 21 mins and 7 seconds.

People were collapsing all over the place from around Mile 10 and I saw so many people hooked up to drips and lying on pavements crying. First Aid staff were everywhere though.

I'd liked to have a run a quicker time but I'm no natural athlete and it was so brilliant to enjoy the crowds. There were street parties, bands played in lots of places and onlookers gave out jellybeans, orange wedges and chewits.

I was really tiring by Mile 18 but a little girl handed me two Jaffa cakes, which I wolfed down and crashed right through that ‘Wall’.  Another toenail popped off at Mile 24 which hurt like hell but with just over 2 miles to go there was no bloody way I was going to stop.

The last mile was incredible, what seemed like thousands of people cheered and yelled out my name and words of encouragement. (I had my name printed on my top).

I hit the finish line, had the time chip taken off my shoe and sweatily hugged (having fallen into) the poor lady who put my medal round my neck.

I was extremely shaky, a bit delirious and sunburn was kicking in but was very happy and had the above official photo taken with my shiny new medal.

Thank you so very much for your support, the Stroke Association and I are very grateful for your donations and your kinds words have meant so much to me.

The amount above has been raised online and I have sent another £420 in cheques to The Stroke Association and donations are still arriving!

My website will be active until 22nd June.

Thank you!
