AWF was set up in 1983 by vets with a passion to alleviate unnecessary pain and suffering in all animals and to improve their welfare through science, education and debate. Farm animals, working animals, wild animals and pets – all need our expert help and with your help we can provide it.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

AWF was set up by vets with a passion to end unnecessary pain and suffering in all animals. It works tirelessly for animal welfare in the UK and around the world - from helping to eliminate the illegal trade in wild birds to addressing the complex issues around "non-accidental" injury to animals. I'm really proud of the fact that this is a charity set up and run by vets in the interests of animal welfare.

I've been a keen cyclist for many years and have done a couple of Etapes, one Marmotte and the Raid Pyrenees, as well as riding the Dolomites and the Grand Route of the Alps. As a student (too many) years ago I cycled 1000m to raise money for a South African animal charity, and I'm excited to do the same in the UK.
