Ultra - X Tanzania 250 · 12 June 2023

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

In June 2023, I will be taking part in Ultra X's 250km, 5 day ultramarathon across the beautiful landscape in Tanzania.

This is a minimum of a marathon a day, with the longest day being 67km. The overall elevation is some 7102 metres, taking in some ascent up Kilimanjaro itself.

I have two very close friends who have had their families impacted by this terrible disease - it changes the lives of those living with the condition and those close to them.

I am conscious that we are living in challenging times, but any contribution to this fantastic charity on their campaign to find a cure or treatment.

Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
