Story
I’ve decided to give up alcohol for a lot of reasons this October, primarily to stop being a pest when I drink wine 😗😗, but more importantly to raise money and give my support to Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust. I’m 25 years old (22 if you don’t know me that well x) and have had four smear tests. My most recent came back abnormal and I was referred to the hospital to get a colposcopy. As result of having such regular smears and early detection chances are I’m absolutely fine and the only negative impact will be regular smears until I’m 65. I went for my smear tests because I got a letter from the NHS telling me to. It’s so important and so easy to do. I over exaggerate everything in my life so naturally receiving this letter I self diagnosed myself with cancer and all of my friends can vouch for that. One morning when my mum was working and no one else was picking up the phone I looked up and found Jo’s helpline through google. The lady on the phone was so incredibly helpful. She listened to everything I had to say, spent 20 minutes going over and describing the results I’d been given and laid out what would happen during my colposcopy. They managed to completely put my mind at ease. I donated to their website at the time but feel they very much deserve as many pennies as they can get.
