As a team we are undertaking the Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge with the aim to achieve over 1500 miles! The 1500 miles target is reflective of our pledge to deliver 500 affordable homes, equating to 1500 bedrooms across the Wessex region over the next 5 years. Each AJC participant has made a commitment to fundraise £250, which shall raise considerable funds for a local housing charity!

Based in Bournemouth on St Swithuns Road South the charity Hope Housing, Training and Support was first opened in 2009. Julie and her team have created a charity that offers temporary accommodation for 18-65 year olds.

They have 92 people in temporary accommodation across 12 houses in Bournemouth & Poole (including one ladies only, two post treatment houses and one social drinking house) and the main site has cabins in the grounds for specific projects. Hope helps to encourage health, wellbeing and independence to those living in their supported accommodation.

They assist with housing, clothing, support, and counselling, and have group sessions on site each week. They have a charity shop in Southbourne, a Soap for Hope project called Hope & More and an online retail shop www.buyonegiveonesoap.com giving a bar to those in need for every bar sold, a Bicycle project and hold a number of weekly activities for the residents.

The Ultra Challenge comprises of a range of distances to suit our teams capabilities and we shall be walking, jogging and running the spectacular coastal path in The Purbecks on the weekend of 13th & 14th May. The event starts in Corfe Castle, with options to participate in a 25km, 58km or 100km route. We are hoping to have an overwhelming sense of achievement as we cross the finish line whilst knowing we are helping the homeless in our community overcome some real life challenges!
