Story

The Story

I have decided in June to walk 874 miles which is the full length from Land's End in Cornwall to the other end of John O'Groats in Scotland in a virtual way. This will be tracked online with a virtual map which I will walk almost everyday accumulating miles with Strava and logging it online which make my little virtual dot move along the map which I will provide links to.

I hope to raise some money for Guide dogs as I also have a magical guide dog named Quinka who will also be helping me do this mammoth task! so I will not be alone! Guide dogs are amazing companions, not just as a support for visually impaired people but the bond that is built between them during the partnership. Quinka is my second guide dog and Scottie was my first.

Guide dogs cost around £50,000 each to train and to look after their ongoing wellbeing once they matched with a new owner. Which I hope I can raise as much as I can to give a little back for their amazing work that they do and how they supported me and my two working dogs.

As well as I am doing this for guide dogs, I am also doing this as a father of a daughter which I hope she be proud of me in the future that having a visual impairment is never a barrier for achieving dreams or being who you want to be.

I have already started this task back in June and accumulated now 250 miles from June 1st and need to complete this by December 1st by walking all the way with Quinka. This is a task that requires motivation every day as I need to cover at least 5 miles a day (rain or shine!) which hasn't been easy some days!

Thanks for reading :)
