Story
Three years ago my grandpa Larry passed away. He was an RAF Ground Crewman in WW2, and a lifetime member of RAFA. The charity helped him stay in touch with other RAF veterans, and with life in the RAF.
I knew I wanted to do a challenge event in Larry’s memory at some point, and had planned to do the Great North Run in 2020 - until COVID-19 put a stop to everything!
Now it looks like the run is back on for September 2021, I want to regain my fitness and raise at least £400 for the charity. Hopefully I'll also be able to beat my best half marathon time of two hours and 15 minutes.
I know that lockdown has been hard on many people, so I'm only aiming to get the minimum target for the event, but if you can help me raise even more, that would be amazing. Thanks for your support!
The RAF Association is dedicated to supporting serving and former RAF personnel and their families. Whether it's an injured airman fighting to get back onto his feet, a young daughter missing her parent away on overseas operations or a WWII veteran needing a shoulder to lean on, they are here to help.
