Our wonderful runners are taking on the 2026 Royal Parks Half Marathon to fundraise for Alcohol Change UK.

Story

In October, I’ll be taking on the Royal Parks Half Marathon to raise money for Alcohol Change UK.

On 15th June, I celebrate two years sober, a milestone that has genuinely changed my life. Choosing sobriety has brought me greater clarity, better health, stronger relationships and a perspective I never thought I’d have. It hasn’t always been easy, but it has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

I wanted to mark this chapter by taking on a challenge that means something to me, while supporting a charity doing important work around alcohol awareness and reducing alcohol harm.

I actually completed the Hackney Half in May and went into it aiming for a time I’d worked really hard towards. Unfortunately, a recurring knee issue decided to make an appearance around the 11km mark and had other ideas. While I crossed the finish line, my time definitely wasn't what I was hoping for… so I’m back with a vengeance!

The Royal Parks Half is more than just another race for me though. This is the first of many fundraising challenges for Alcohol Change UK. I’m hoping to take on bigger, tougher and more intense challenges as we move forward, using my own journey as motivation and hopefully raising awareness and support along the way.

Everyone’s relationship with alcohol is different, but for many people it can have a huge impact on mental health, families, physical wellbeing and everyday life. Alcohol Change UK works to create a society where people can make informed choices about alcohol and access the support they need.

If you're able to support, any donation, big or small, would genuinely mean a lot. Thank you for reading, supporting, and following the journey.
