Back in 2019 we started fund-raising for GOSH and never thought we'd get so much support which was awesome so thank you to all of you.
So after a break due to COVID I''m back on it and this time doing a triathlon. I'll be honest, the run bit feels familiar but i had never sat on a racing bike until a month ago and still feel like I''m cycling on a piece of floss in the wind and as for the outdoor swim, you'll see me bobbing at the back relying on breaststroke to get me through. Wish me luck!
As most of you know Tilda was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JDM for short) back in 2018.
We always thought she was one in a million and it turns out she is! (Those of the odds of having it.) As it's so rare (there are approx 600 children on the register for JDM in the UK) there are very few cases similar to Tilda to learn from.
Right now there is no cure for JDM, Tilda is doing incredibly well in her journey so far but there is still uncertainty, unforeseen bumps along the way and we are not exactly sure of when she can come off her medication. Which is why we're really keen to try and support GOSH in their research into the disease.
The NHS and specifically the team at GOSH have been incredible in helping Tilda through her treatment. This is a small way of saying a huge thank you to all the nurses, doctors, physios, play carers and the wider team who have made us feel at home and supported us all.
Thank you so much for your continued support, love Ali, Toby, Freddie and Tilda X
