Story
My name is Aliie and I am living with relapsing and remitting multiple sclerosis. I was diagnosed in July 2016 and since then this disease has truly taken me on a wild ride.
Two years ago I developed severe, drug resistant chronic pain in my right leg. This is due to a lesion of damage in my thoracic spine causing my spinal cord to repeatedly spasm out of control.
The pain has meant I can only be on my feet walking around for short periods of time and I need a lot of sitting down breaks. There have been many times when I have been bed ridden or unable to get around without crutches. It has been so hard as it has stripped me of what I love to do the most which is going for nice long walks with my boyfriend, Lee.
About four months ago we had a breakthrough, my neurologist trialled me on a new drug and thankfully it is helping!!
I still struggle everyday with pain but this new medication has made it possible for me to start going for walks again and I am determined to regain what I have lost to this disease.
To a lot of people 10km is not very far to walk but for me this will be the furthest I have walked in over two years.
I am doing this to prove to myself that I am stronger than this disease and to raise money and awareness of Multiple Sclerosis.
Let's stop MS together.
