Story

Why this charity, why this challenge?

My son was born with just one kidney. No one really knows why and many people live quite happily with just and indeed may not know that they only have one.

Early in 2022 my son's kidney failed leaving him needing dialysis 3 times a week and looking for a kidney donor.

Luckily I was a match and healthy enough to be able to donate one of mine.  The surgery took place in late 2022 and was successful.

We don't know either why his kidney failed. Kidney Research UK is the largest kidney research charity in the UK. They fund research into the causes of kidney disease, its treatments and finding a cure to stop it.

Why this challenge, walking is a big part of my life and recovery.  I love the landscape of the lakes and was looking for a challenge to prove I've still got it,  this looked perfect.
