In May 2019, my life as I knew it, got flipped, turned upside down! The picture I had of our future, had been ripped up into pieces, and no matter how hard we try, will never be the same again. 

Mark the love of my life, father of my beautiful babies, my rock, my best friend, was diagnosed with a brain tumour, and as a result now has Epilepsy. 

A cancer diagnosis is difficult, treatment is gruelling, and trying to carry on as normal for the children is unbelievable hard.  

Mark has had Radiotherapy (this involved driving to the Christie’s Hospital in Manchester, Monday- Friday for 6 weeks, sitting in boring waiting rooms and traffic).  During this time, Mark’s hair started to fall out. Instead of letting it upset him, he decided to ‘brave the shave’, even letting the children have a go at shaving his hair! 

He still needs to have 6 rounds of Chemotherapy.  

At the end of all of that, Mark won’t be cancer free.  His consultant has been very honest and explained that due to the nature of his tumour, it will be very difficult to remove surgically, and his best hope, is the treatment plan they have offered.  It won’t be a cure, but will hopefully give him more time.

To lift his spirits, for a laugh, and to raise some much needed funds for the Christie’s radiotherapy department (they are improving the area and adding an extra fancy 4D CT machine, which will help with waiting times) some of Marks nearest and dearest are braving a shave, or drastic hair cut.

Beth, our lovely 11 year old, cut off 12 inches of hair in September, and like she did a few years ago, has donated it to the little princess trust, so they can turn it into wigs for children with cancer, but this time she wanted the money to go elsewhere.

Over the coming weeks other friends and family are shaving their hair, please if you can, share some pennies or pounds to help such a worthwhile cause, that is very close to our hearts.
