Story
In November 2019, I will be running over a marathon a day for 6 days around a mountainous island in the Azores as part of the Run For LOVE 3 event run by TRIBE (http://triberunforlove.com/). On top of that, we will be climbing almost 14,000m across the whole the whole race - that's almost 1.5 times the height of the tallest mountain on our planet! To give you an idea what this is going to be like, please check out this short video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHSSPWUcRnI
After almost 5 months away travelling the world with Luci, I have hit the ground running and will be training 6 times a week to get myself ready for what will most likely be the toughest few days of my life! To build up the strength in my body, I will be undertaking a variety of training including: hill training, speed work, swimming, strength & conditioning, as well as the big runs I will be doing most weekends across undulating terrain. This will include a number of "back-to-back" runs where you undertake a big distance over the course of a few days to prepare yourself for running on tired legs.
Given how tough this race is going to be, it is important you don't do this sort of thing alone and fortunately I am running this with almost 100 people from across the globe who will be coming together as a TRIBE (pun intended!) to take on this great challenge.
As a TRIBE, we are looking to raise £250,000 to fight modern slavery and we would be most grateful if you could spare us some of your hard earned money to support this great cause!
About Run for Love 3:
There are an estimated 136,000 people living in slavery in the UK. Thats more than two victims for every thousand people in the country. This needs to stop.TRIBE Freedom Foundation was inspired by a 1,000 mile run from Odessa to Dubrovnik to fight human trafficking and establish the first UK home for trafficked children. This was the first Run for Love. Run for Love 3 is the third in the epic RFL trilogy. It will bring over 500 runners together to push the limits of human endurance to fight modern slavery and end human trafficking. Our aim is to raise £250K to raise awareness of trafficking and support the survivors of modern slavery. We are supporting two of the most innovative and impactful frontline anti-slavery projects:Ellas Home - an East-London safe-house providing rehabilitation, accommodation, and support for women exiting situations of trafficking and exploitation. Snowdrop - a Sheffield-based charity providing outstanding long-term follow-on support for survivors.
