Story

The Huntington's Disease Association supports anyone who is affected by Huntington's disease across England and Wales. We pursue the best possible care; provide training & advice to families and professionals; raise awareness, and promote research towards better treatment and care.

As a family we have been raising money for HDA since my Gran sadly passed away from the disease in 2007. Knowing HD is a hereditary disease my dad and his siblings decided to get tested, unfortunately 3 out of 4 of them were positive for the disease, all of which already had children.

My dad has inherited Huntington's, meaning myself and Liv also have a 50% chance of inheriting the disease. When my dad found out he carried the gene from this point he tried to do everything he could to raise awareness and money for the charity, in which all of our family and friends have helped and supported. Our family have always told us that there will be a cure by the time it could effect us and have taken part in numerous trials to help with the research.

To continue our fundraising, our new goal is to raise £10,000 for Huntington's Disease Association (HDA). We will be planning different events across the next two years with our family and friends.

Our final event will take place on the 24th August 2022 where myself, Olivia Allen, Eleanor Bullen-Bell, Joe Guy will climb Kilimanjaro. The climb will be completely self-funded so all donations and money raised will go straight to HDA.
