We are a 24 hour search & rescue service to save lives at sea

Story

I'm running the Centurion South Downs Way 50 Mile Run for the RNLI because because I'm proud to be a volunteer crew member of the RNLI Newhaven Lifeboat  - saving lives at sea!

I've been training hard through the winter for this 50 mile run - my longest run up until now, and a real test of my endurance, stamina and mindset!

I am constantly motivated and driven to succeed by the outstanding support of my amazing friends and family - some of whom will be with me in my support team on the day - helping keeping me going when the going gets tough!

The Centurion South Downs Way 50 Mile Run is on Saturday the 5th April 2014.

Start is in Worthing at 09:00 am and the finish line is in Eastbourne which I hope to reach in less than 10 hours!

This race feels like a stretching, yet appropriate challenge. As I approach my 50th birthday next year, I am committed to "running my talk" - "I can achieve anything I want to achieve!"

In the last few years I became aware that unfortunate some of my friends didn't have the chance like me to stay fit and enjoy life in full.

These friends left for good and are very missed by me and their family and friends. Most of them because of cancer.

Watching helpless these friends depart from this life in so much pain and despair has made me very much appreciative for all what I have in my life.

I take every day as a golden opportunity to live life in full with passion and purpose.

The RNLI and all who work for and in the RNLI are people with passion and purpose.

It is all very well thought through and the crews are first class trained to do their job and rescue life's at sea at any weather conditions.

The RNLI relies on the donations of the public which has until now been very supportive and helpful. Most members of the public do know how important the RNLI is to keep our coasts save.

RNLI Newhaven Lifeboat needs approximate £225,000 per year to keep the station running. Every pound you can donate to the RNLI will be very grateful received.

Completing this race will be a major achievement for me, and will mean I am officially an "Ultra-Marathon Runner” -  Beginner ;o)

But more than that I know I have done off the boat my possible best to raise more funds for the boat and the RNLI to keep up the outstanding work they have done so far.

Please support the RNLI and donate on this page.

Thank you.
