Cancer seems to touch everyone's lives, in some way, these days. I'm no exception. I'm on a quest to get fit (because I will be 50 next year - shh, keep it quiet!) and I thought, in a moment of madness, that I should enter a race to have something to aim towards. But as I've been pounding the lanes in rural France, I've been reflecting on how cancer has impacted on the lives of my family and friends. So, I'm running for them. 

Some are sadly no longer with us, some are still fighting it and others have waved goodbye to it. Different cancers, different outcomes. 

They will all be in my thoughts as I run the Temple Newsham 5k Race for Life event on 29th June 2014 and if I can raise some money to help fight cancer, by doing this, I'll be thrilled. 

Events like Race for Life are vital in funding Cancer Research UK's life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. By sponsoring me, we can unite and create a force that cancer can't ignore.
