Story

Its been a very strange  year so far in 2020. Covid-19 has affected us all in some way and we all have had to change the way we go about our daily lives.

During this difficult time  AM activ have been blessed to use Lake Ashmore  for open water swimming. We have all enjoyed this wonderful place as an outlet of all the madness and a way to keep us fit and well.

WE all know that the  NHS work extremely hard to look after us all. Currently due to Covid-19 the NHS  work even harder to care for us in this difficult time.

One particular local hospital that I have a special bond with is the Royal Papworth hospital. The Royal Papworth hospital  has been in the frontline in looking after Covid-19 patients due to its specialism in heart and lung disease and care.

From a personal perspective  I used to work at the Royal Papworth hospital in the cardiac physiology department, I know first hand how hard the staff work and how ground-breaking their work is. Furthermore I was  diagnosed with a congenital heart condition and  I am still under the watchful eye of the Royal Papworth hospital.

So AMactiv want to celebrate the end of our open water swimming season and say THANK YOU NHS and the Royal Papworth hospital.

AMactiv is organising  a charity swim event on the 27th September, 12-4pm. This will be at Lake Ashmore Liquid Skillz in Hemmingford Grey Cambridgeshire.

All the money generated from our swim tickets will be donated to Royal Papworth hospital. Please book your swim tickets in the normal way via Eventbrite,(no charge) and then donate on the JustGiving page a minimum amount of £5.80 but feel free to donate more to support Papworth Hospital.

This event is open to swimmers, past, present, newcomers and families. We have 150 tickets over the 4 hours so lets try and fill them all. Tickets will go live on Friday 11th at 6pm.

Why not set yourself a personal swim challenge for the event and get individuals to sponsor you.

Swim one lap, no problem!

Swim 10 laps no problem!

Do you have children who might want to swim? No problem!

What ever your idea or challenge just email me and we can arrange it to make it happen.

Look forward to seeing you there.
