Story

THANK YOU for taking the time to visit our Team's 'JustGiving' page!

Who are we and what are we doing?

We are a team of about 28 like-minded colleagues (based in Aberdeen, London, Manchester and Wynyard) who have committed themselves to taking on the nation's '3 Peaks Challenge'.

What's the (national) '3 Peaks Challenge'?

The '3 Peaks Challenge' is when an individual/ team climb the UK's highest peak in Wales, England and Scotland, in short, everyone in the team needs to climb Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Nevis.........within 24 hours.........including travel time!!

Why on earth would we want to do that?!

The answer is very simple........to work as a team to raise as much money as possible for a really worthy cause, UCAN.

UCAN (www.ucanhelp.org.uk) has been set up as a charity dedicated to raising awareness of urological cancers, and improving support and quality of life for people and families who are affected. The four main urological cancers are kidney, prostate, bladder and testicular cancers. They mainly affect men, although women can suffer from kidney and bladder cancers. Urological cancers are more common than many people realise, and account for 1 in 3 of all cancers in men and 1 in 5 of all cancers in men and women.

UCAN need funding to raise awareness and education, provide support for sufferers and their families and work with patients to better understand their needs through the cancer journey.

How can you help?!

You can help by sponsoring the team during our training and challenge by pledging donations on our JustGiving page. UCAN is AMEC's Aberdeen Charity for 2010 and they have pledged to part match our fundraising efforts so we are able to contribute even more to this great charity.

What's the next step?

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So how are we going to do it?!

With a lot of hard work and determination!! All members of the team are in training as fitness levels vary across the group from 'active dog walkers' to 'fell runners'! Everyone has a personal reason for taking part and we will be group training on the 16th May and 5th June!!

So please dig deep and donate now, every penny (and pound!) is gratefully received and will help keep our team motivated and focussed during the challenge itself!! We can if you can!!

Thank you from the Aberdeen Team!
