My name is Ella and when I was 14 my best friend, Amelia Leclercq, was diagnosed with Aplastic Anaemia in April 2013 and sadly passed away August 2013. 

This coming February she would have celebrated her 18th birthday with all her family and her friends, and we thought why can’t we still celebrate? She’s still here with us. We have decided to organise a fundraiser/party event for Amelia’s birthday which would have been on the 26th of February, to raise money and awareness for the Anthony Nolan Trust and of course to celebrate Amelia’s birthday.

The Anthony Nolan Trust is a charity which manages and researches bone marrow transplants and recruits many donors onto the Anthony Nolan and NHS Stem Cell Registry. The reason we have chosen this charity is because Amelia was in desperate need of a bone marrow transplant, and by the time we found a match for her in Germany, it was too late; she had become too ill for her body to even manage a transplant and she soon died from infection due to a practically non-existent immune system.

It costs Anthony Nolan £60 to put one person on the bone marrow register and so one of our aims is to raise as much money as possible. The fundraiser party, taking place on Saturday 25th February 2017 will be a ticketed event which will include food, music and dancing. Tickets will be available in the New Year so watch this space! We have set up this page for those who will not be able to make the event but would still wish to donate, or for those who wish to donate anyway.
