Story
I was diagnosed with Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis in 2018, a few weeks after my 21st birthday. One thing I said to myself when I was first diagnosed with MS, was that every year I would do something which was completely out of my comfort zone. So, in October 2022 I will be running the LONDON MARATHON. This is a massive challenge for me but I am motivated and determined to successfully complete this 26.2 mile challenge!
MS is an unpredictable illness which means I don't know what the future holds. I don't know if, when, or how my MS will progress. At the moment, I am extremely fortunate that my MS is under control and that it has not yet affected my mobility (well, barely). However, of course, this may not always be the case and that's why I want to challenge myself so much. I want to push my body and do amazing things while I still can! I also want to show people that they can do anything they put their minds to.
I wanted to do something that I would never have done without my diagnosis, all to raise money for the MS Society UK. The MS Society is a wonderful charity that supports me and so many others living with MS. Everything they do is made possible by donations from supporters - whether it goes towards funding MS research to find new revolutionary treatments, providing a kind voice at the end of the phone, helping people make sense of their diagnosis, giving grants to people who need them most or providing activities for people with MS. They really couldn't do any of it without the help of volunteers, donors, and supporters.
Please support me with this challenge for such a fantastic charity. Any money you are able to donate will go such a long way - to help motivate me with my training and more importantly to provide much-needed funds for the MS Society UK.
Thank you for your kindness,
Amy xxx
