Story
On a usual day when I was 12 getting ready for school, I suddenly had a seizure out of nowhere. This was the beginning of the most tedious and frightening journey for myself and my family as I was subsequently diagnosed with epilepsy. As you can likely imagine, this felt like the end of the world to a 12 year old girl in high school - the never ending tests, the overwhelming sense of embarrassment, and constant fear of the unknown.
10 years later, I can’t say that it has become much easier. In 2024, having still being under the care of neurologists who were not near enough as professional as they should have been at this point in time, I fell into a coma due to experiencing such a severe seizure.
However, this very fortunately lead to me now being under the care of the most incredible neurologist who goes above and beyond, of which everyone with epilepsy deserves as it is such an isolating and frightening thing to experience and live with on a daily basis. Although, it should not take such a dangerous, life-threatening experience to achieve this outcome.
Having experienced countless negligent experiences with many neurologists over the years, both private and public healthcare, I would love to raise money for children with epilepsy in the hopes that they will have a more successful and safe start to their journey than myself.
Therefore, any donations would be greatly appreciated to hopefully prevent such experiences for children with epilepsy - and it would not feel right to do this with anyone else but my father, as he has practically lived the last 10 years back and forth to hospitals for consultations, treatments, and tests with myself. Not to mention the endless stress that this has caused him being my biggest support system (sorry dad😂).
