Batten disease is a group of rare, progressive neurodegenerative, genetic metabolic diseases that occur in children & adults worldwide. The BDFA's Vision is to be the central point of excellence in the UK for supporting affected families funding research into a potential cure.

Story

I decided to run the Wolverhampton half marathon this year and wanted to raise money for a charity at the same time.

I have decided that I want to raise money for The Battens Disease Family Association (BDFA). This charity supports families, raises awareness and facilitates research into the disease.

Most people don't know about Battens Disease and neither did I until I heard about a special little girl Maddy Box Poole who has this terrible disease.

Maddy has been in an out of hosptital and endured numerous tests and procedures, but still she always manages to smile.  She is such a courageous little girl who touches the heart of everyone she meets.

I have only met Maddy a couple of times, but know her Mom and Dad, and I read all the updates they post regarding Maddy's progress and how heatbreaking it is for them watching their daughter suffer.

Her Mom and Dad work tirelessly to raise money and awareness for this charity in the hope that one day there will be a cure. This is why I have decided to run for the charity they support BDFA.

Please try help me raise as much money as possible by donating on my page.  Any donation no matter how small is greatly appreciated.
