Story
In 2014 I supported a group of friends who cycled from London to just outside Mons in Belgium to mark the centenary of the First Shots Fired in WWI. In November of this year we will be marking the centenary of the Last Shots Fired in WW1 - this time though I will be joining the cycling team. The last commonwealth soldier to die was shot by a German sniper at 10:58 on the 11th day of the 11th month - we will mark that moment and then cycle back to London.
First and foremost this is an act of remembrance, but I'm hoping once again to raise some money for the Royal British Legion. The challenge that I face as a 60-year-old, cycling over 230 miles in November, pales into insignificance in comparison to the adversity and suffering endured by our Service Men, Women and their Families over the years. It is that very community that the Legion supports and your donation will be most gratefully received. Lest we forget.
