Andrew's Walking 46 Miles in a Day

Walking 50 Miles in a Day · 19 June 2021
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I know it is a difficult time for many at the moment during the pandemic and money is tight, so anything you can spare no matter has small is much appreciated. If you aren't able to donate which is absolutely fine just by reading and becoming aware of the disease is just as important. By sharing you are helping me and Parkinson's UK just as much, so thank you!
Three family members and I are attempting to walk the Peddars way, 46 miles in one day on the 19 of June 2021 for a variety of charities. Personally, I am raising money for Parkinson's UK as it is a charity close to my heart with past and current family members suffering with the disease.
What is Parkinson's?
Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition. This means that it causes problems in the brain and gets worse over time. It is thought that around 145,000 people live with Parkinson's in the UK and it's the fastest growing neurological condition in the world.
Parkinson's develops when cells in the brain stop working properly and are lost over time. Symptoms starts to appear when the brain can't make enough dopamine to control movement properly. There are Three main symptoms but not limited to these - Tremors (shaking), slowness of movement and rigidity (muscle stiffness).
