Story
Every year the congregation of Southwark Cathedral commits itself to supporting Christian Aid. We shake tins in the Borough Market, hold a 'Big Brekkie', sell books and, of course, pass around the familiar Christian Aid envelopes to those who come into the church. But this year these things are not as easily done. So we are doing it this way.
Covid-19 is having many effects around the world. But the effects on charities and the effects on the poorest communities combined make this year's appeal even more important. We have set ourselves a challenging target in this challenging year. Please help us achieve it.
God has a heart for all people, we know that. But as one hymn puts it, 'Dearer to God are the prayers of the poor.' Our prayers combined with our actions are to support the most needy and the most vulnerable, wherever and whoever they are.
Thank you for joining us in this.
