We stand for everyone affected by dementia to find a cure

Story

Hello and thank you for visiting my JustGiving page.

In short…..

I am running the Virgin London Marathon in April 2012 to raise money for Alzheimer’s Research UK. I have a target of £2000 which I MUST RAISE – I need your help so please do give generously. I am also running the Addidas Silverstone Half Marathon for the same cause.

I understand times are tough but hundreds of thousands suffer with dementia and you can really help.

The research undertaken by the scientists, as a result of the money raised by good folk like you, will go a long way to eradicating this condition for good and in the short term help better the lives of people suffering with dementia and their families.

Now the long version……

(If I have already done enough to make you donate no need to carry on reading… For those that remain unconvinced please do read on)

For those of you who know me well you will know that I have been raising money for Alzheimer’s since my Granddad suffered with it shortly before he passed away in January 2010. I am passionate about the cause as I have seen first-hand what it can do…

Granddad Roy was a tremendous man, full of life, character and jokes. Alzheimer’s took it all away from him and frankly it was horrible to watch. The money I work hard to raise can’t help Granddad but it can stop people who have his condition suffering and help the families of those with dementia too.

With help from my good friend Gary we raised £1000 for the Alzheimer’s Society by taking part in the Great North Run, my first long distance run. At 13.1 miles it was a real challenge… Now I am running double that and want to raise twice the amount. Still not donating….? I have more, read on!

August 2011 my sister Kerry and I, with the help of friends and family organised a charity raffle and auction that raised £2000 for the Alzheimer’s Society. Liverpool Football Club, MK Dons, Bedford Blues and more donated items for the auction and everyone that attended had a brilliant time all for a good cause.

I decided to run the Virgin London Marathon for a different charity but for the same cause.

I’ll be representing Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) in April. ARUK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity specialising in finding preventions, causes, treatments and a cure for dementia. You can find out more about the charity here… http://www.alzheimersresearchuk.org/

Please do give what you can guys and tell your friends, I am counting on everyone that visits to donate in order for me to reach the target!

I really do appreciate your help! THANK YOU!!
