Event: Aldeburgh to Orford Fundraising Flotilla, on 4 July 2021
Participants: Andrew, Sarah & Romilly
The 44km of river walls along Suffolk's Alde & Ore Estuary need urgent work to help protect the local communities, homes and businesses from the risk of flooding.

Story

On September 4 Sarah and Romilly will kayak the 8km from Aldeburgh to Orford while Andrew will frantically try and keep up on a stand-up paddle board.

We’re doing it because we hope to raise £300 for the Aldeburgh & Orford Estuary Trust. I know we all have to prioritise our charitable contributions but if you're able or if you care about the English countryside it would be fantastic if you could help us reach that goal.

SAVE THE SUFFOLK ESTUARY
The centuries old landscape of the Alde and Ore Estuary is under threat from flooding.
All this is at serious risk:
• our homes, shops, historic sites and Snape Maltings
• local businesses in tourism, leisure and the arts generating over £100 million a year
• a mosaic of internationally protected wildlife habitats and nature reserves
• sailing, fishing and 101 kilometres of public and permissive footpaths
• 8950 acres of farmland and fresh water

The Trust is committed to protecting the communities surrounding the Alde and Ore estuary by upgrading the flood defences of the river walls. This event will raise much needed funds to help them with this task.
