Story

Wednesday 29th July - down to 52 miles to the end by last night and done 11 miles already this morning. Going all out to finish by tomorrow evening - Thursday 30th July. That's 870 miles in 45 days. British Lung Foundation are a fantastic charity and need all the support they can get. So even at this stage, if you can spare a few pounds, I'd be really grateful.

Sunday 26th of July - final few days and 95 miles to go. Aiming to finish on Friday - the last day of July. That's under 7 weeks in total to do 870 miles. It's tough going being out of the house by 5am to get 13 miles in before breakfast - especially this morning when it was dark, in torrential rain and a howling gale.

Update 21st July - on Sunday evening finished the fifth week with 630 miles done, leaving 240 to go to complete in 7 weeks. Original deadline was the end of September, quickly reduced to the end of August, now hoping to finish by August 2nd. May even try and ramp it up on my days off to finish on 31st July!

Update 13th July - four weeks in and 500 miles. Arrived in Aberdovey. Up every day and out the house just after 5am and then a dog walk in the afternoon. The guy in the lead will finish today - he's a professional extreme endurance athlete!! But then I'm in third and chasing the guy in second who's just a few miles ahead of me. I'm chasing him with all I've got, so no chance of day to rest..

Starting on Monday June 15th I am walking the Wales Coast Path. It's a virtual walk, meaning that each day I log my daily local dog walks and treks on Ynys Cybi and Anglesey until I've completed 870 miles - the full length of the Wales Coast Path. The deadline is to finish by the end of September, though I've got my sights on the end of August to complete the trek. My daughters, Naomi and Rachel, are doing it too, raising money for Home for Good, an amazing charity supporting adopting families. See Naomi's page for details.

Lung problems have affected many of our family, from asthma to pulmonary fibrosis. During the covid-19 pandemic British Lung Foundation have been hit hard. Their fundraising has suffered because of lockdown and the cancellation of so many events. And their services have been stretched to the limit because of the way covid-19 attacks the lungs. Their helpline, in particular, has received many times more calls than normal, and they are in desperate need of funds to keep their much needed services running.

British Lung Foundation are the only UK charity looking after the nation’s lungs. Your sponsorship will help them in their quest to make sure that one day everyone breathes clean air with healthy lungs.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
