Well, after years of talking about wanting to run the I’ve only gone and been accepted and boy is it tough. I had visions of feeling stronger and fitter than ever before but the reality is painful knees (which resemble those of a 90-year-old), anti-social tendancies, running come rain shine or snow (and there has been lots and lots of snow....) and generally eating, sleeping and breathing M-a-r-a-t-h-o-n, much to the dismay of my nearest and dearest whom I bore to death with all the details!
Anyways self-pitying aside, I'm running the for the charity Mind. Mind offers information and advice to people with mental health problems and lobbies government and local authorities on their behalf. It also works to raise public awareness and understanding of issues relating to mental health. It is a charity close to my heart as mental illness is something that has affected a number of my family members and continues to do so. Notably my grandmother, who passed away last year, suffered from bipolar disorder (manic depression) for over 50 years; it was a long and difficult struggle. I have witnessed first-hand how distressing mental illness can be and how much we still have to learn about the causes and treatment.
I don't think I’ll be making a habit of running marathons, therefore I will only be hounding you for marathon sponsorship this once (promise!) therefore I would greatly appreciate any donation that you can spare for this very worthy cause. A big big thank you in advance for your generosity and support which means a lot to both me and Mind.
Love Moi

We’re Mind, the mental health charity, working across England & Wales. We believe no one should face a mental health problem alone. We’re here for you. Whether you’re stressed, depressed or in crisis. We’ll listen, give support & advice, & fight your corner. Thanks for fundraising for national Mind.
