For my 59th year I have decided to raise £5900  for the Butterfly service at the Lister. The money I raise will help to give patients peaceful and compassionate care in the last hours or days of their lives by making small aesthetic changes to help the patient and their families to be as comfortable as possible, at this difficult time. Butterfly volunteers provide companionship for end-of- life patients, without the Butterfly project 15-20 patients were dying alone at the Lister each month, as well as patients being alone when waiting for relatives to arrive.In order to keep the project running the charity must raise £25,000 each year, to provide appropriate management and support for their 30 volunteers.
