Let's WALK IT together; stand strong and raise vital funds to improve diagnosis and treatment , to fund research into a cure; to raise awareness and to give people hope, comfort and confidence to live freer, fuller lives
My mum was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis after having severe pain and passing blood in 2005, she is currently receiving treatment and is taking it one day at a time! She is my inspiration. I was experiencing chronic pain in my right lower abdomen for a few weeks in april 2017 not knowing what was causing it. I went to the hospital and after several scans, tests and cameras, I was diagnosed with ileitis Crohn’s disease. I had a severe obstruction causing excruciating abdominal pain. Trying liquid diets through NG, 10 steroid tablets a day, Azathioprine, mercaptopurine and infliximab infusions didn’t work and the inflammation was still causing pain. I eventually had a right hemicolectomy and was in remission for a few months without no infliximab! Unfortunately, in October 2018 an mri scan showed I had another stricture in my bowel. The circumstances may not be what I want them to be but I wouldn’t be who I am today without going through this with my family and amazing friends supporting me every day. Me and my mum will never let crohns or colitis get the best of us. I empathise with everyone who is struggling with ibd and I would like to raise money to help with research to ultimately find the cure for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis!!! 💜💜💜
