We are Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity. We stop at nothing to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. Because we believe no childhood should be lost to illness.

Story

I am fulfilling a little bit of a dream and running the London marathon in memory of my little girl! Two years ago, I was a different person entirely, I was overweight, unfit and a bit of a mess..... I decided to change in order to be physically fit enough to raise money for Great Ormond Street and all the other charities that helped us along with our journey. It’s been 2years of training, running crazy obstacle races, going to the gym at stupid o’clock in the morning to get me to where I am now, and I am taking on the ultimate in physical fitness and running 26.2 miles!!! Oh, did I mention I HATE RUNNING!!!!

Most of you know my story by now. But in case you don’t....

In 2013 my beautiful daughter Amelia Rose was born with a severe congenital heart defect. We were rushed to Great Ormond Street Hospital for her to have life saving surgery at just 10days old. We then spent the next 7.5months in and out of the hospital while she had a further two open heart surgeries and eventually passed away while we were there on a routine appointment.

Our hearts were broken forever, but our family owes so much to this incredible hospital. Whilst we were there, we were able to stay at our daughters side, thanks to the charity providing parent accommodation. This also meant that we were able to bring our older daughters with us to spend time as a family and for them to bond as sisters!

Thanks to the incredible research and development that takes place here, this is one of the only hospitals in the world where our daughter had a fighting chance of survival. We will always support the research the hospital does into rare diseases because children’s lives are saved EVERY DAY thanks to some seriously groundbreaking and brave procedures that happen here. All of this is funded by the charity and wouldn’t be able to take place without charitable donations.

So please please dig deep and donate as much as you can for this awesome cause! I hate saying it to people, but we never expected to be in the position we were faced with in 2013-2014. So many people helped us and we were given the most precious gift of 7.5months with our little girl that we wouldn’t have had if it wasn’t for GOSH.
