Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My dearly beloved Mum (Ann Thomas) was moved to the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre (NOC), Oxford after breaking the Tibia and Fibula in her left leg at the Great Western Hospital, Swindon, with the intentions of strengthening and repairing her leg for a better quality of life.
The NOC were best equipped for the very complicated operation, but unfortunately Mum became very ill with pneumonia.
The care given to mum was outstanding and second to none. Unfortunately due to the seriousness of the pneumonia, the operation had to be put on hold. The NOC staff were thorough in everything, extremely polite, supportive and caring to all of us during Mums stay and her final days, where we always stayed by her side.
Mum also mentioned how she had noticed the difference in the high level of care from all of the staff and they were a credit to the NHS and their profession.
Under the circumstances, knowing that there was nothing more that could be done for mum, we couldn't have been in a better place for her final days, especially Ward F.
Mum would love to have known than any donations made in her memory would raise awareness and also help and improve the lives of children that required major orthopaedic surgery or prosthetic limbs, through no fault of their own
